Rio is one of those city that surprise for it's natural beauty, for it's beautiful beaches or it's mountains and hills around the city. It's amazing. A lot of people have afraid when we speak about Rio de Janeiro, because of violence that all the time the TV news show us. But the true is that it has been an incredible destination, with many things to do, a relaxed atmosphere, fully different of that we can see in São Paulo for example. The sun and the sea are, without doubts, the bigger protagonists of this trip.
In the middle of a lot of cool things that you can do in the city, an amazing experience is watch the sunset by the "Pedra do Arpoador" (Arpoador Stone).
The Arpoador is one beach located in the begining of Ipanema Beach. It's know as Surfers' Beach, because of the big waves that we can see there. It's formed for a lot of big rocks and we can find the Pedra do Arpoador there, that nothing more is that a big rock with a extraordinary view to Ipanema, Leblon, Morro dois irmãos, Pedra da Gávea and in the other side, Praia do Diabo and Forte de Copacabana.
To you get there is so easy. From the post 7 (Posto 7) in Ipanema already is possible see the trails that will leave you until the top of pedra do arpoador. The trail is short, without difficulty. In some minutes you can arrive in the top where it's possible see all the beachfront.
During the day you won't find a lot of people there, but is in the sunset that the top with the best places will be full.
The Pedra do Arpoador is known for provide one of the most beautiful sunset of the world, with an amazing view for save in your memory. Some people more excited can to applaud this moment of so beautiful that it's. Enjoy and take with you some thing to eat and drink while you appreciate the sunset seated in the stone. (Don't forget of take your trash after, after all, you are a good citizen)
If you are with a travel scheduled to Rio, be sure to stop there. We recommend that you go there around 17h, thus you can take a good place to seat and enjoy the sunset in peace. Certainly will be amazing.
