Are you planning your next vacation? The plan is to visit Brazil on it. As we have explained in another post, in Brazil most people don’t speak English. Do you speak Portuguese? No. Thinking of that we have prepared 15 good sentences for you to carry on during your vacation and avoid communication troubles.




Do you have a hotel reservation? Not yet? The expressions below help you to negotiate an option that fits to your budget:


Do you have any rooms available? – Tem quartos disponíveis?

How much is it? - Quanto custa?

What time is the breakfast? – Que horas é o café da manhã?

It’s too expensive! Do you have any cheaper rooms? – É muito caro! Tem algum quarto mais barato?


Have you ended up in a neighborhood not so friend? Or the subway is closed ? It isn't time to save . Go after the nearest taxi.

How much is the ticket? - Quanto custa a passagem?

Does this bus/train go to...? - Esse ônibus/trem vai para...? (insira o nome do local)

Where can I take a cab? - Onde eu posso pegar um taxi?


During your meals, don't panic. Is it difficult to understand the menu? Ask the waiter.


Do you have...? - Vocês têm...?

How much is this? - Quanto custa isso?

It's too big/ It's too small - É muito grande/ É muito pequeno

Do you accept credit cards? - Vocês aceitam cartão de crédito?


Shopping time.

Pay attention on how to ask for your size and bargain. Normally sales people try to make more money when they notice it's a tourist that has no idea about good prices.


Please, I'd like to try one of this on size...! - Por favor, gostaria de experimentar um desse no tamanho...?

Too expensive! - Caro demais!



Make sure you know how to go to the turistic places, and also the opening agenda:


Does it open on Sundays? - Abre aos domingos?

Could you show on the map? - Poderia me mostrar no mapa?

Nas suas viagens, tenha sempre pilhas reservas a mão. Nunca se sabe quando aquele pôr do sol maravilhoso irá aparecer e você estará sem pilha.

Leve sempre todas as suas reservas impressas. Na hora do desespero, esses papéis podem salvar sua vida.

Fique esperto com as tomadas. Você não quer chegar no hotel e descobrir que não consegue carregar a máquina fotográfica, seu celular e nem o notebook porque a tomada é diferente.
